While much work has been focused on basic web service implementations, very few have considered the need to provide business facilitation tools in addition to simply focusing on XML-based technology middleware for programmers. In addition the large industry vendors are touting Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) solutions using web services all of which are highly tied to their proprietary existing technology products. This has left SME businesses particularly with very little ability to deploy and leverage the capabilities that web services may provide them while locking them into web service based solutions of larger corporations that can therefore control markets.
