Dr. Wacks has been a pioneer in establishing the home systems industry and a management advisor to more than 100 clients worldwide, ranging from startups to large companies. His business focus includes home and building systems, energy management, and digital entertainment networks. Corporate managers depend on Dr. Wacks for clear and practical advice regarding product development and market positioning.

The United States Department of Energy appointed Dr. Wacks to the 13-member GridWise Architecture Council. He is helping to develop a smart grid for reliable and economical distribution of electricity. For electric and gas utilities, he has defined and demonstrated new methods for energy management and conservation.

Dr. Wacks was elected to chair the international committee (ISO/IEC) establishing world standards for home and building automation. In addition, he has written American National Standards for home systems and networked home appliances.

Dr. Wacks chairs the Editorial Advisory Board of the magazine iHomes & Buildings and is a featured contributor under the byline "Ken Wacks’ Perspectives." He is a frequent speaker and panel-session organizer at industry conferences. Dr. Wacks received his Ph.D. from MIT and studied at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
